This Research Division focuses on study of phenomena that are present in the earth, which is a complex system, through the study of physics concepts of the phenomena. The study covers the development of concept and methodology used for observation, processing, modelling, interpretation of response functions and their applications on human life. The topics cover natural resources, natural disaster, material properties, noise analysis and image processing, computer intelligence, chaos, and fractal. The member of the Research Division have various expertise such as computation and instrumentation, seismology, electromagnetism, rock physics, physics process of volcano, geotechnique, environment and exploration. This Research Division is supported by the following laboratories: Electromagnetics, Earth Physics, Rock Physics, Wave Inversion, and Computational Physics.
